Registration: 5 December 2024 – 5 February 2025
Objective:
This DocShop, organized in connection with the Development Days Conference 2025, encourages doctoral researchers to reflect on methodological approaches with ethical considerations in conducting research and fieldwork with/in the Global South. The focus will be on the methodology chapter of the candidate’s dissertation. The event includes a keynote roundtable of PhD Supervisors. Following this, small group learning workshops will be held in breakout rooms, where respective supervisors will provide feedback on the pre-assigned papers for submission and where doctoral researchers also discuss with their peers.
Pre-assignment:
Participants are required to submit a paper (maximum 2 pages or 1,000 words) based on the methodology part of their dissertations, specifically reflecting on appropriate methods and methodologies, fieldwork strategies and ethical concerns. Papers can be submitted through the registration form or sent via email to Ana Tarazona (if.iknisleh@sivlaganozarat.ana). In either case, participants must submit their papers by 10 February 2025 in order to confirm their place in the workshop.
Prior to the event, participants will be assigned to a small learning group, each with a designated supervisor. The papers will be circulated among the members of the respective groups. Everyone is encouraged to read their peers’ papers and be prepared to provide brief feedback.
