ASIA-EUROPE MEETING (ASEM) IN THE AGE OF CONNECTIVITY

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of ASEM, the European Union Centre in Singapore with the support of the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has prepared this booklet. The booklet gives an analytical account of ASEM's history and background, assesses ASEM's developments and achievements since the inaugural summit, and provides some thoughts on the future of ASEM.

Policy Brief: Technology transfer between the EU and India, Challenges and Opportunities
This analytical report reviews the concept of technology transfer from a theoretical perspective adn various approaches within different disciplines. It also itends to gauge the perceptions of diverse stakeholders on the current challenges and opportunities associated to the process of technology transfer between India and the European Union. This study concludes that technology transfer between India and the EU is already occurring through different channels and it could be further enhanced by an adequate policy framework between both regions.  More information

Report highlights opportunities and priorities for future Europe-India research collaboration
A new report published by EqUIP provides a collation and reflection on the EqUIP projects’ activities to enhance the Europe-India research collaboration in the social sciences and humanities, as the support from the European Commission through the FP7 coordination and support action comes to a close. The 14th EU-India Summit, 6 October 2017, New Delhi, India
The summit marked 55 years of diplomatic relations between the European Union (EU) and India. Amongst other issues, both sides also agreed to scale up their cooperation in research and innovation by extending the EU-India co-funding mechanism to all areas of Indian interest across Horizon 2020 such as health, climate change, and energy, the latter in the framework of Mission Innovation. An Implementing Arrangement between the Commission and the Indian Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) was signed with the aim of facilitating the collaboration of talented Indian researchers with European Research Council teams in Europe. ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations)

Roadmap for ASEAN-EU S&T Cooperation
Scientific cooperation is part of the partnership between the two regions since the 16th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting in Nuremberg, Germany in 2007, scientific cooperation has also featured at the latest 20th EU-ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in relation to issues such as water resources and environmental protection under the theme "Towards Strategic Partnership for Peace, Stability and Prosperity” (July 2014). Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Surveillance in Southeast Asia (State of Play and Policy Note)
The aim of this report is to highlight AMR activities in ASEAN member states and to identify key players within each country, in order to facilitate the establishment of a coherent strategy for collaboration. In order to identify key areas, we have reached out to each member state and identified the key organisation(s) supporting the national action plan or activity and scientific experts in the field of AMR. SEA-EU-NET - Final Report Published
Southeast Asia and Europe have established a strong partnership in S&T for years. The FP7 funded SEA-EU-NET project has been working since 2008 to expand scientific collaboration between Europe and Southeast Asia (SEA) in a more strategic and coherent manner. The Project was funded in two phases (2008-2012 and 2012-2017) and came to an end in April 2017. This report summarises the main activities and results of the projects. More information

Japan

4th Joint Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Japan and the EU - Joint summary
The meeting, held in Tokyo on 24 November 2017, welcomed the agreement of the Japanese Science and Technology Agency to continue co-funding projects in open Horizon 2020 calls, and acknowledged the opportunities offered through the European Research Council-Japan Society for the Promotion of Science cooperation arrangement.
