FinCEAL Plus BRIDGES call for Partnership Support grants now open!
The FinCEAL Plus BRIDGES Partnership Support Instrument is open for applications. The 2021 call supports the Finnish research community in responding to the challenges posed by COVID-19 in the development and re-establishment of partnerships with peers in Africa, Asia, and LAC.
The FinCEAL Plus BRIDGES Partnership Support Instrument (PSI) is a granting scheme that offers small-scale financial support for building and maintaining the Finnish scientific community’s research and innovation cooperation initiatives with their peers in Africa, Asia, and LAC and addressing one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The first FinCEAL Plus BRIDGES PSI call was launched in 2019 and further calls were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic and related measures to curb the spread of the disease have impacted the opportunities for researchers based in Finland to initiate and develop their collaborative partnerships with partners from the focus regions. Moreover, the modalities previously used in FinCEAL Plus BRIDGES to support the development of partnerships may not be suitable in the current environment.
The 2021 call for funding under the Partnership Support Instrument will support the re-starting and development of partnerships between the Finnish science community and counterparts in Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean to respond to the new realities for cooperation. Unlike previous calls, there are no pre-defined funding modalities.
Activities applied for must meet the following criteria:
- Respond to one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals, and
- Support either:
- the initiation of a new collaborative research partnership with a peer (or peers) in Africa, Asia, or the LAC regions or
- the re-establishment or development of an existing collaborative research partnership with a peer (or peers) in Africa, Asia, or the LAC regions.
Activities can include, but are not limited to: digitalization, virtual events, translation, small-scale infrastructure support, networking, training, digital production or publication, platform activities. A combination of these activities is also possible. Travel costs are not excluded but are not encouraged at this time.
The maximum amount of funding for a single grant is 4 000€.
