Starting 2026, UniPID will continue its work from the University of Eastern Finland!
Coordination of the Finnish University Partnership for International Development (UniPID) will move from the University of Helsinki to the University of Eastern Finland from the start of 2026.
At the heart of UniPID’s strategy for 2020-2025 is a genuine commitment to empowering our member universities and amplifying the societal impact of our network. We understand the importance of collaboration and dialogue in achieving these goals. With this in mind, the UniPID Board has made the meaningful decision to entrust the coordination of our network to the University of Eastern Finland (UEF). We believe this transition will foster stronger and diverse connections and inspire positive change within our community.
UniPID will be hosted at UEF’s Joensuu campus, by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies in the Department of Geographical and Historical Studies. UEF offers UniPID a vibrant, flexible working environment, committed to internationality as well as responsible and equitable academic engagement in global development.
The UniPID Board is grateful for the University of Helsinki’s four years of coordinating the network plus an additional year to support the transition. UniPID has become a dynamic and lively multidisciplinary network, which gathers the university community from all over Finland to discuss and plan joint objectives to advance member universities’ global responsibility, cooperation with the Global South, and sustainable development.
UniPID’s activities will continue at UEF guided by the UniPID Board, which consists of representatives from all ten member universities and three observer members, each offering their unique contribution and perspective to UniPID’s work. UniPID’s presence across Finland is assured through the Board and the variety of support activities for the benefit of the wider university community.
The UniPID coordination unit invites our community to stay tuned to any updates related to the transition through our communications channels.
